Rose Opens Four Shot Lead as Koepka Makes the Cut

Justin Rose of England carded a seven under par 65 to stretch his lead to four shots at the Farmers Insurance Open as Brooks Koepka made the cut on his PGA Tour return in San Diego. The 45 year old now sits on 17 under par and holds a four shot advantage over Ireland’s Seamus Power after breaking his own 36 hole tournament record. Rose produced the best round of the day on Friday on the tougher South Course with an eagle six birdies and only one bogey.

“I feel like through my career I have usually won on tough golf courses so that is kind of my style,” said Rose who finished runner up at the 2025 Masters and led by one after an opening round 62.

“It is the type of place I really enjoy. It is one of my favourite events on Tour because of the area the atmosphere and the overall feel.”

Koepka continued his comeback with a second round 68 to finish on three under and safely make the cut. The five time major champion who is set to leave LIV Golf at the end of 2025 had struggled on the South Course on Thursday with a 73. He bounced back on the North Course in his first PGA Tour event in four years and rolled in an eagle putt on the 17th hole.

“I think on Thursday I was excited nervous and not quite sure what to expect but today felt more normal,” Koepka said.

“I still had some nerves but it was also about seeing where my game is. I feel like I am playing well even though it has been a long break.”

Xander Schauffele saw his run of 72 straight cuts come to an end while Patrick Cantlay Gary Woodland Will Zalatoris JJ Spaun Max Homa and Ludvig Aberg all failed to make the weekend.
